“This is the story of how the community transformed an underdog UI library into the most popular JavaScript framework today”.
How React Project Started Actually?
React project idea was started by Jorden Walke at Facebook in 2011. jQuery and Backbone dominate front-end Javascript but more opinionated tools like Ember, Angular, and Knockout are already on the scene. In the outside world, Gangnam Style has just been uploaded on Youtube.
Before React.js came into the picture, Bolt.js was built by Two Engineers at Facebook. Where Bolt.js was Underdog UI Library. At that time Jorden Walke was Product Engineer at Facebook. Jorden Walke thinks that making Bolt.js has much more functional & makes it more ability. Then the original name of React.js is used to call “FBolt” which is Functional Bolt.
The first time React.js framework was used for was the UFI, the Universal Feedback Interface for Facebook. Which is basically likes, comments, and shares at the bottom of each post on facebook.com.
After that JSX was introduced and some of the ideas about how to work with data & React sort of were clarified.
Then Instagram joined Facebook in 2012, this is the chance to show the React functionality to the world, so they built instagram.com using React fully.
But one day they came to know, this is not reached to people. Then they started thinking to publish on open source as a document. But the thing is they have two projects Bolt.js and React.js. Which one needs to publish?
At that moment they choose the React.js project as the best to publish. Then React.js project becomes an open source project and it can be accessed by anyone.
On that day Jorden Walke and his team announced a conference called JSConf. In the conference, Jorden Walke explained the features of the React.js project.
After the first conference not get good responses on React.js. at that moment they think that it’s not going to work.
But one day Sophie Alpert worked at Khan Academy and she solved issues by using React in 2013, she was the first person who used React for her project work. And she started contributing some features to React project. Then Facebook company hired her as an open-source contributor.
Then, the second conference was announced by the Facebook team conference name was JSConf EU, which is talked by Pete Hunt.
After the Pete Hunt conference people started conversions about conference on media about React.
Then, Netflix company started using React to rebuild their application called netflix.com in 2014. And they were impressed by comparing before using React and after using React.
Again, people started asking questions on social media like when the next conference from Facebook on React project.
At that time React team become a community and they announced the conference and kept tickets to attend the conference. But the thing is tickets sold out in 1 minute how fast it is.
And finally, the conference was started by Nilas in 2015 and a lot of people attended that conference. At the conference, they introduced a different bunch of projects on React.js like React Native, GraphQL, and more.
Then, again people share their thoughts on media about conferences like
Then many people contributed to React.js projects like React Component, React hot Loader, and Redux introduced at 2015, so on….
The Moral Of This Story :
Excellent solutions are rarely created by committees or large organizations. It is almost always a single person with passion and vision that slowly infects others.
